Bayra is a name given to the recently founded fossil of mankind in the Gamo zone. In Gamotho language, Bayra means firstborn or elder. Archeologists found this fossil after seven years of investigation in 2013 in Boreda area. According to the archaeologists, the fossil of Bayra is an adult man living before 4500 years. The fossil is the first of its kind to provide the ancient genome sequence of humans in Africa. The fossil founded in the cave consists of hand bones, shoulder bones skull, and other broken bones with a hand tools that he used during its lifetime. The specific place where Bayra found is called Motta cave in Boreda wereda, Dega Awusato kebele. The cave has a 15-meter length and 4-meter width. There is also a small waterfall which flows from the top of the cave that gives more attractive feature to the area along with the highland scarp. The cave can be accessed after 7km grave road drive or trekking to the north of Zefine, the administrative center of Boreda, which is 79 km far
from Arbaminch.
