The third-largest lake in Ethiopia, Lake Chamo is among few lakes in Africa exhibiting naturally entertainment of swarming giant Crocodiles that reach above 5-7 m long.

The lake has a 32 km length, 13 km width and a surface area of 551 sq.km, and a maximum depth of 14 meters. The lake is clean and bluish being characterized as Eutrophic Lake. Its main body and lakeshores have an interesting component of great biodiversity. Its Northern end (42 km) comprising about 32 km2 lies in the Nechsar National Park.

There are 16 fish species in the lake, including Catfish, Nile Perch and Tilapia.The Giant Hippos, Nile crocodiles and different colorful birds including Pelicans are the main lives of the lake.
